I do realize that it is a bit late for Christmas tree stories but this is interesting I think.
It is about this tree:
I purposefully took the picture with an electric pole in it ...the one right next to it, sort of white, so you can judge the size because it matters.
Here is the story (it is a true story):
When this tree was the right size to be a Christmas tree there was a house on that lot and with this tree there was three others just like it.
The house with the lot and the trees belong to a family who had traveled south. The wife had seen Christmas trees when she was "south" and wanted to show her kids and anybody else interested how it was done. So she cut one of the four trees, decorated it and her kids loved it.
The next year she cut another tree and decorated it, and the following year again. The fourth year as she was about to cut the last tree, THIS very tree in the picture, her husband asked her not to cut it and told her that he would get her another tree. The story goes, that he did and did every year after that.
So when this tree was a tiny sapling, before he was big enough to be a Christmas tree, nobody in Fort Smith had ever seen a decorated Christmas tree, and he very nearly became the fourth Christmas tree to ever be seen in Forth Smith.
If you can judge the age of the tree from it size you can figure out how long ago this took place, because this is a true story.
