Ice on the River

The other day after a cold night I went for a walk along the river. I had never noticed before those little igloo-like ice domes that form from the wavelets above larger rocks (about fist size) in the shallow part of the river. They are quite nice I think. they do remind me of my new Christmas tree ornament.

...and just some bubbles trapped under the ice.

For people who know Calgary and the area, I drove to Canmore the other day and saw people skating on the Lac des Arcs. I thought that was brave. It seems a little early to venture onto the ice but apparently it was working for them.
