Grey Lourie

Grey louries are lovely birds, quite large (larger than a pigeon and smaller than a chicken). Apparently they are now officially called "grey go-away-bird", which is seriously ridiculous. Apparently they calls sounds like "go away" to some people. Personally I hear a loud "poway".

They are quite common in gardens in Johannesburg , but they are not easy to photograph because they tend to stay at the very top of trees.

Taking the picture below I feel a bit like a paparazzi who takes that awkward shot and publishes it anyway. I do think that it is a fun picture.
